Welcome to High School Biotechnology.com

EBPI (Environmental Bio-Detection Products Inc.) adapted their real world testing kits into a range of easy to use, educational versions which can be used in a non-specialized classroom laboratory. Each kit provides students with specific learning goals with emphasis on developing critical thinking, laboratory skills, interpret, and analyze results. Our kits provide an interactive method to explore the ideas of toxicity, genotoxicity, and mutagenicity, EBPI's high school biotechnology kits are colourmetric assays and safe to use. Please browse our complete line of biotechnology kits for further details such as timelines, required supplies, and visual presentation of the results.

About the High School Biotechnology Education Program

High School Biotechnology Program Stream

If you are having trouble choosing one of our kits, not to worry. EBPI developed program streams that your class can study. Select the program stream you wish to study. Each program stream contains a list of high school biotechnology kits to choose from along with education resources.

Testing Water

With harmful substances being released into our environment daily, students will be able to monitor waters for increased levels of toxicity or mutagenicity by using either the Muta-LabTM or Toxi-LabTMhigh school biotechnology kits.  The Coli-LabTM allows high school students to monitor lakes, rivers or ponds for levels of E.coli and Coliforms ensuring for both safe drinking and recreational bodies of water.

Testing Chemicals

Using either the Muta-LabTM, Toxi-LabTM, or Geno-LabTM high school biotechnology kits, students will learn the effects of chemicals on organisms or into the environment.  Chemical compounds are exposed to various strains of E.coli and results can be read visually, allowing students to understand both experimental design as well as experimental observations.

Testing Soil

Using the Sedi-LabTM high school biotechnology kit, students will learn how to detect toxicity levels in soil including the study of the presence of xenobiotic (human-made) chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil environments.

LEARN MORE

Simulated Testing

We offer the option of simulating a test for either mutagenicity (Muta-LabTM Synthetic) or toxicity (Toxi-LabTM Synthetic).  The high school simultaiton tests allow students to understand concepts of toxicity and mutagenicity without the use of bacteria in the classroom.

High School Biotechnology Kits Projects

Our High School Biotechnology Education Program offers projects for each of our program streams (testing water, testing soil, testing chemicals, and simulated testing). Our kits provide students with the development of essential skills and experience operating in a laboratory environment. See below for the types of projects we can provide for each high school biotechnology kit:
Site Sample Study

Students in their groups will acquire samples for their lab experiment. This section is optional. If the teacher provides samples, then this section does NOT have to be done.

Lab Experiment

Students in their groups will use one of the high school biotechnology kits to complete a lab study as well as analysis of the samples taken or provided by the teacher.

High School Biotechnology Learning Tasks

Explore our performance tasks to help students learn, study, and debate about biotechnology and toxicology.

Anticipation Guide

Students will complete a brief survey about environmental toxicology and discuss the results in class.
